FAQ

What if I hate getting my photo taken?

You're definitely not alone. Honestly, most of my clients tell me this before we even start. Being in front of a camera can feel awkward for almost everyone. So I keep sessions relaxed and low-pressure, and I do most of the heavy lifting: I'll give you little prompts throughout the shoot, some of which might feel a bit silly in the moment (whisper something ridiculous to each other, walk toward me and stop, that kind of thing), but they're basically magic tricks. They get you reacting instead of posing, which is where the good photos actually come from. Most people forget the camera's even there within the first few minutes.

When you're actually having fun instead of performing for the lens, it shows, and those relaxed, real moments end up being the ones you love most.

What should we wear?

Wear something that feels like you, that's really the only rule. A few tips if you want them: neutrals and muted tones tend to photograph the most timeless, so I'd lean away from highly saturated colors or busy patterns like reds or checkered prints. You'll thank yourself in five years. Coordinating with your partner usually looks better than matching outfit-for-outfit; think same color family, not identical. And comfort matters more than people expect: if you can't move, sit, or laugh freely in it, it tends to show on camera.

None of this is a dress code though. If you want more specific guidance based on your session's location or time of year, just ask, I'm happy to help.

Where are you based?

I'm based in the Lower Mainland, BC. If your session's somewhere more remote, just know travel fees may apply, I'll always let you know upfront.

Where should I take my photos?

Vancouver's full of good backdrops. A few of my favorites: Gastown, English Bay, Granville Island, David Lam Park, Spanish Banks, Blue Lagoon, and Queen Elizabeth Park. If you're not sure where to go, that's genuinely part of what I help with, just tell me the vibe you're going for and I'll suggest a spot. (Heads up: I don't currently do indoor/at-home sessions.)

When will I get my photos?

You'll get your online gallery within 4 weeks, sometimes sooner depending on the season. From there you can download everything, share it with people, pick favourites, and order prints straight from the gallery.

Can I buy physical prints?

Yep. Once your gallery's live, you'll have the option to order prints right from there. Just keep in mind shipping times and methods are set by the print lab, not me, so that part's a little out of my hands.

Can we collaborate?

I'm pretty selective about collaborations, but I'm always open to hearing ideas from models, brands, or other creators. Send me an email with what you're thinking and I'll let you know if it feels like a fit.

Can you provide RAWs?

No, and here's why: booking me isn't just hiring a camera, it's trusting how I see things. The edited photos are the actual work, the RAWs are just the raw material. So I only hand over the final, fully-edited images, that's the version that's actually mine.

Some of the important fine print:

  • A 50% non-refundable retainer is due at the time of booking to secure your date.
  • The remaining balance is due within 48 hours of your session. If the full payment isn't received within that window, your gallery will be held until payment is complete.
  • Need to reschedule? No problem, you can do so once with at least 24 hours' notice. Additional reschedules will incur a $100 fee.
  • If the weather doesn't cooperate (heavy rain, snow, or other unsafe conditions), we'll work together to find a new time that works for both of us.
  • Prices are subject to change without notice. Once your retainer is paid, your rate is locked in for your session.
  • Additional images beyond your gallery are available for $15 each.
  • I retain copyright of all images, but you'll have full personal-use rights, meaning you're free to print, share, and display your photos however you'd like: on social media, in your home, or as gifts. Images may not be sold, altered, or redistributed for commercial purposes without my written permission.
  • By booking, you agree that I may use images from your session for portfolio, website, and social media purposes. If you'd rather your photos stay private, just let me know before your session and I'll respect that.
  • Your safety is always a priority, and I take reasonable precautions during every session. That said, I can't be held liable for accidents, injury, or property damage that occur during a session.
  • If I'm unable to deliver images due to circumstances beyond my control (equipment failure, file corruption, accident, illness), my liability is limited to a refund of monies paid.
  • If I become unable to shoot your session due to illness or emergency, I'll do my best to find a suitable replacement photographer or offer a full refund.
  • Not every photo taken during your session will be included in your final gallery. I select and edit the images that best represent your day.
  • Sessions that run past the booked time will be billed at $50/hour, or wrapped up at the scheduled end time.
  • I reserve the right to end a session early if conditions become unsafe, without obligation to reshoot or refund beyond what's fair for time completed.
  • All images are edited in my signature style; I'm not able to accommodate requests for alternate editing styles, filters, or presets.
